Tahu FM and Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu strongly supports this kaupapa.
We are encouraging every community in Te Waipounamu to converse in te reo Māori,
to hear the sweetness of this language.
Give it a go!  Speak Te Reo Māori everywhere you go!
Let the language flow!

The Launch of Te Wiki o te reo Māori!!  Monday 27 July 2009

To kick start Te Wiki o te reo Māori, Tahu FM in conjuction with Te Rūnanga O Ngāi Tahu successfully lined up 92 people in the High Steet City Mall, wearing tee-shirts with one of the letters of the longest Māori place name in the world!!

(Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaurehaeaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu)

This line up of 92 people spelt out the longest Māori place name in the World!!  The aim was to get the community involved and to raise public awareness and encourage learning and revitalisation of te reo Māori - as a language for all New Zealanders.

The Launch of Te Wiki o te reo Māori was a great success with the involvement of the Community participating in the line up of 92 people.

A big thank you to Subway High Street, who were amazing and very accommodating for our event and supplied over 100 subway rolls!!!!
